The Peep Show

April 30, 2014 By John Rankine Leave a Comment

“The Peep Show “ was a one-time, juried exhibit held in the basement of the Eureka Springs Auditorium in 2003 or 4. Peeps, those marshmallow-like chicks and bunnies, were given to anyone who wanted to create a piece of “art” from of the toxic Easter treats. The event was silly fun and juried by the founding curator of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Chris Crosman, who awarded me Best in Show for my pieces “One More Peep Out Of You” and “Waiting For The Rapture.”
“One More Peep Out Of You” was a performance piece – daring the audience to shout out “peep,” before hitting the blender.
Even though both works were given the distinguished honor, no one could convince Alice Walton they belonged in her permanent collection.
