The Necklace Show

April 30, 2014 By John Rankine Leave a Comment

Zarks gallery has been holding an annual invitation themed art show at their Spring St. location for several years during the May Festival of the Arts. I’ve participated in many, including the rattle, bracelet and shoe-themed shows. For the necklace show, my piece, “A Necklace For Anti-Social Occasions,” was constructed from two gourd halves glued together. Wooden letters attached to one side were connected to large chain link and painted gold. After the Necklace show, I couldn’t help noticing that included in the following year’s invitation were the words, “Artwork should be tasteful.”
